"Fake it 'til you make it" is old advice, but it's aged well. Here are three ways to "fake" your way towards very real success!

  1. Perform Confidence. Confidence doesn't just make you seem more capable… it can actually make you more capable. Studies have shown that if you expect to succeed, you're more likely to. And the science behind " power posing" is solid: Posing like a self-assured person reduces stress and increases confidence.
  2. Mimic Those You Aspire To Be. We learn by doing, so if you want to be a better leader or salesperson, you need to do what great leaders or salespeople do. From mannerisms to work strategies, mimicking those who are achieving what we want to achieve can be a crash course in professional growth.
  3. Dress For the Job You Want. We've all heard it before — because it's true. Not only do people judge one another based on clothing, studies even indicate that the clothes we wear influence how we think. Dress professional, think professional!
The "fake it 'til you make it" mentality doesn't mean lying, and it doesn't mean being unrealistic. Instead, it means forcing yourself to think bigger and have higher expectations for your work. The most successful people are the ones who have their eye on the prize and are ready to take steps to get there.
